Research Description 

Dr. Lea Dougherty's research interests broadly focus on the etiology and course of depression from a developmental, life-span perspective. In addition, her research targets the following areas: (1) early risk and protective factors in the development of psychopathology, including the role of children's emotion and emotion regulation, cognition, parenting, parental psychopathology, and several biological factors (e.g., neuroendocrine function, specific genotypes); (2) the effects of early experience on children's development and risk for psychopathology, and (3) mental health problems in preschool-age children.
