Preschool Language & Neural Engagement Study

Researcher

Description

Children from disadvantaged backgrounds, on average exhibit disparities in academic achievement and cognitive development, compared to their peers from higher socioeconomic status (SES) backgrounds. This study will investigate the role of specific aspects of children’s early language input on the development of neural networks supporting the development of language, executive functioning, and social cognition, and how these may ultimately drive SES differences in academic achievement. Findings from this work have the potential to inform maximally impactful interventions to reduce achievement gaps and improve cognitive outcomes for children from all backgrounds.  If you would like to have your child participate in this study, click here
